- A few Highlights
- Golf & Versus HD channel split into two individual HD 24/7 channels.

an MPEG4 tag making it impossible for MPEG2 Dish receivers to receive these
channels.
- 6 new HD test channels were uplinked to 110° but not available to
subscribers.
- Many new HD local channels became available to exisitng markets and
Topeka, KS is the latest addition to EA and HD with one HD local now.

changes to international channels. All changes can be found on
www.dbstalk.com in "Uplink Activity"
threads in the Dish Network area, or
www.satelliteguys.us in the "uplink center".
- Sorry for the slow updates folks. Personal life and computer
issues have conspired to slow updates.

originally being advertised there, to the true name of the channel "Long-Form"

It sometimes shows up mapped to channel 99 as well.

- XETV HD CW affiliate in San Diego was uplinked to channel 6411 at 110°.
It is not yet available to subscribers.
- ION TV (Ch.181) is now mirrored to channel 280. The guess is that
since ION is actually a broadcast network, the channel is being moved to the
same range as other broadcast networks.
- WXAX Azteca is now available to local Tampa subscribers on channel 8704
and 26 at 110° and 61.5° for Easter Arc subscribers.

removed from 110°. Anyone without an MP4 capable HD receiver can no
longer receive HBO or Showtime HD. HBO and Showtime HD are still in
MPEG2, however there is a flag on the channels that prevent the old MP2 HD
receivers from receiving them. This is part of the transition to MP4.
- Sun TV (610), K TV (667/6161) and TEMPM (6199) have been removed from
61.5°. For some reason SunTV remains on channel 6160 at this time.
10/23/08
- Juneau and Fairbanks, Alaska local channels moved from tp 29 spot 46 at
110° back to to tp 13 at 148°. Looks like the transition to 110° for
these Alaska locals on channel 5631-5651 and 5688-5705 was a total bust!
TP 29s46 was removed from the system tables. Dish initially moved these
locals from 148° to 110° on 10/15/08. The "temp" channels with the
":moving" EPGs are still mirrored at 148° as well.

541-548 at 61.5° and 129°
- USA HD and SciFi HD were both mirrored to channels 5502 and 5503
respectively. (tp 17 at 110°) They are not available to
subscribers on the new channel numbers. However it is possible that when
they do become available at those locations it will be for the Hawaii/Alaska
HD packs.

channel range (7453) at 61.5°. Makes sense since this Fox channel

61.5° and 129°
- Channel 809 "JUS" became available to subscribers at 118°.

in the 4000 channel range. It is still unknown which subscribers can
actually "see" this channel range.

Network.

logged at a later time.
9/11/08
- Dish Network and KRCG (CBS) Jefferson City, MO kissed and made up at about

channel 9445 changed its name from RNC back to TMP13 as a "Temporary" channel

will be no HD version of the RNC. We will all find out for sure together
next week.

and higher subscribers on channel 259 at 110°
- Gol TV has been removed from 110° and 72.7° satellites. The channel

channel is apparently gone for ever.
- International channels ZGUJ, PHNIX, CCTV4 and ATV have been removed from

at 110° for all Dish subscribers and 72.7° for Eastern Arc subscribers. (ANON)
- WSJU 30 San Juan became a MEGA
TV affiliate today. (Nelson)
8/24/08
- INSP will be coming to Dish Network channel 259 for all subscribers on

- All the changes from last Wednesday are in the chart as of last Thursday.
All of the changes dealt with catching up with making nearly all of the 72.7°
channels available. Package info will be added as time allows.
- New designation MP4-EA stands for MPEG 4 - Eastern Arc. Eastern Arc
channels at 72.7° are not available to existing subscribers. When they
are, the EA designation will disappear. Again Eastern Arc (61.5°, 72.7°,
77°) has exactly the same channels as "Western Arc" (110°, 119° 129°) with the
exception of Dish Latino with is currently NOT available on Eastern Arc.
There is no reason for existing subscribers to change to Eastern Arc.
8/20/08
- As Advertised, Eastern Arc Debuted today for NEW SUBSCRIBERS... there is
absolutely NOTHING on EA that isn't on the standard service (western Arc).
More details on the changes coming.
- Due to over 600 changes in the charts today, I was unable to complete all
the changes tonight. I will complete the changes as soon as possible.
Nearly ALL of 72.7° channels are available to EASTERN ARC subscribers.
No, you cannot just swing over your dish to pick it up... It requires a
special card and new activation.
- Israeli Global 1 and Telesud are the next two international channels to be
mirrored in the 6100 channel range. They are being removed from 61.5°
and are available at 118°.
- INSP (Inspiration Network) was moved from the 9600 channel range to 259
but is still not available to subscribers.
- Channel 211 the DNC channel (Democratic National Convention) is now
available to subscribers. Programming starts Monday.
- ESPN, HDNET, HBO-E, HD Theater, and Showtime HD channels were mirrored on
the 6203-6207 channel block. The "regular" HD channel will be blocked
from MPEG 2 receivers a couple at a time. This is the temporary home
until subscribers are updated to MPEG4 receivers.
- ABC sub-channel of WBOY is Clarksburg WV is now uplinked to channel 7910
at 129°
- More inconsequential changes made...
8/15/08
- USA HD is now uplinked to tp 19 at 61.5° as well as tp 17 at 110°.
Subscribers with a dish at 61.5° check your USA timers!!! This uplink
may have screwed up your USA HD timers! It did for me and a gazillion
Olympics timers as well as all other USA programming I had set to record on my
DVR!
- SciFi HD is now uplinked to tp 17 at 72.7° as well as tp 17 at 110°.
- To make room for those uplinks, HD PPV channel 531 was removed from 72.7°
and TMP E was removed from 61.5°.
8/14/08
- As predicted, TNT HD on channel 9420 and HDNet Movies on channel 9423
along with their map-down to channels 138 and 383 respectively now have a "ViP
flag". Only MPEG-4 capable receivers can get these channels. HD
subscribers without MPEG-4 receivers should call Dish for an upgrade. In
the mean time TNT HD and HDNet Movies are available to subscribers with MPEG-2
receivers on channels 6201 and 6202 temporarily.
- ORDER channel 9464 was uplinked to tp 29 at 72.7°. This is a PPV
Order channel. It is not available to Dish Network subscribers or any
Dish receiver, but it is currently FTA to those with MPEG-4 FTA Receivers.
There is nothing but a Dish logo showing at this time.
8/13/08
- DNC 08 was added to channel 211. This will be the home of the
Democratic National Convention in STANDARD definition. Some are still
saying that an HD channel currently used for the Olympics will be repurposed
for the DNC on its opening gavel, but there is no evidence to that effect
right now. Channel 211 was uplinked to tp 10 at 110° and tp 27 at 72.7°.
It is not available to subscribers yet.
- WMOR DT in the Tampa market was uplinked to channel 5154 on tp 7 spot 12
at 61.5°. It is not available to subscribers yet.
- Test Channel VIDE1 was uplinked but is not available to subscribers on tp
17 at 148°
- INFO4 and INFO5 were uplinked but are not available to subscribers on
channels 5998 and 5999 tp 21 at 110°.
- 590 & 703 TRACE & ISMOV are the next in the series of international
channels exiting 61.5°. Both are already available at 118°. TRACE
moved from TP 12 to 14. Both channels are now showing a slate telling
subscribers of the move. The channels are available to subscribers at
61.5° temporarily on channels 6156 and 6157.
- TNT HD and HDNet Movies are now mirrored on channels 6201 and 6202 tp 7 at
110°. The guess is that this is the first step in changing the channels
in the 9400 bock from MPEG-2 to MPEG-4 encoding. The guess is that the
9400 block channels will change to MPEG-4 and subscribers without an MPEG-4
receiver will call Dish to complain about losing the channels. Dish will
set up an upgrade and direct the subscriber to the "new" locations until they
get their upgrade. This is the way the international moves are working
as well. It is JUST a guess at this point.
- INSP added to the business channels block on channel 9636. No other
description or info is available now. This is most likely the religious
channel "The Inspiration Network". Though there is a miniscule chance it
could be an internal channel for INFO SPACE which uses INSP for its stock
name. More info to come. It is on tp 2 at 110°.
- 712 MABHY, a Filipino TV network which has been showing a slate on Dish
for some time has been removed from the system at 118°.
- Muzak channels 974-979, 981 and 983 moved from tp 27 to tp 25 at 72.7°.
These channels are still unavailable to subs at 72.7°.
- QVC channel 137 moved from tp 25 to 27 at 72.7°. It is not available
to subscribers at 72.7° yet.
- 7601 and 9110 WHBF and WOI moved to tp 21 at 110° and now show info slates
instead of a video loop telling subscribers that these channels are not
available due to retransmission consent issues with the station group owner.
- The EPG name of channel 7882 changed from WDCO to WMUM.
8/12/08
- Channel 211 (NOTAX) was hidden from all subscribers today at 110°.
- According to
THIS article in the Multichannel news, channel 211 will become the
exclusive home for the Democratic Party's National Convention showing the
entire convention gavel to gavel live and unedited (presumably commercial free
too). This will be available to all Dish Network subscribers. The
signal will be available to the convention hall and to broadcast outlets in
HD, but the article does not state whether channel 211 will be available in HD
or not.
8/11/08
8/8/08
- Just in time for the Olympics. Florence, SC NBC, CBS and ABC HD
local channels became available to subscribers on channels 5170-5172.
The NBC affiliate in Florence is brand new as of today (8/8/08).
- The new NBC affiliate in Florence, SC is now available to local
subscribers in standard definition on channel 7840.
8/7/08
- Nearly all of the channels at 110° and 119° have been uplinked to 72.7°
but not available to subscribers. All services at 72.7 are in MPEG 4.
Some channels like the PPV range, NASA, Current, CSPAN2 were added to 61.5° in
MPEG2. This is in preparation for the launch of Eastern Arc which is
planned for August 20. THIS DOES NOT AFFECT CURRENT SUBSCRIBERS IN
ANY WAY. IF YOU ALREADY HAVE SERVICE, THIS WILL NOT IMPACT YOU.
- What is Eastern Arc? It's essentially a duplication of all main
stream Dish services for customers East of the Mississippi. All
standard services available at 110°/119°/129° will be duplicated at
61.5°/72.7°/77° but the Eastern Arc service will REQUIRE an MPEG4 capable
receiver. This will allow customers on the east coast especially to
have better "look" angles at the satellites. At first the service will
only be available to new subscribers in 23 markets.
- 5998 INFO4 was deleted from tp 21 at 110°
- Houston HD local channels (6389-6393) were removed from 61.5°. They
were never available to subscribers at that location. They are still
available at their old location at 110°
- All the uplink test channels at 72.7° (6801-6817) have been removed.
Test channel 6800 moved to tp 13s13 at 61.5°
- 239 WGN's MPEG4 channel on tp 21 at 72.7 was moved to tp 23 at 61.5°.
It is not available to subscribers yet. WGN at 119° in MPEG2 is still
available to subscribers.
- Filipino TV channels GMA Pinoy and GMA Life along with radio stations DZBB
AM and DWLS FM were uplinked to tp 20 at 118°
- 560 NBATV MPEG4 channel on tp 1 at 772° was moved to tp 5 at 72.7° to be
with the rest of the NBA League Pass channels. It is not available to
subscribers. The MPEG2 channel is still available to subscribers as
usual.
- CCTV4 582 at 61.5° has been changed to a slate telling subscribers the
service will be moving to 118° Channel 6152 was added at 61.5° as the
temporary home for a few weeks. CCTV4 is already available at 118°.
- Channels 473 and 474 changed names to OLYM1 and 2 for additional Olympics
coverage.
- Channels 475-478 have changed their names to DISH 3-6 and been hidden from
subscribers.
8/4/08
- Changed both GolTV channels to red backgrounds because they are not
available to subscribers.
- Due to a disagreement in negotiations, GolTV is temporarily not on Dish
Network. GolTV is replaced in both the English language AT250 slot and the
Spanish language DishLatino slot with a mirror of Fox Sports Espanol. Thus,
there was no change in the channel tables, because Dish is still showing "GolTV"
in the channel list and showing the "GolTV" program guide information -
perhaps an indication that they expect some resolution soon. However,
Dish has given Dish Latino subscribers a free preview of Setanta Sports, in
compensation for the fact that they already get Fox Sports Espanol and so
would otherwise be losing a channel. Supposedly, this free preview is for "two
months or resolution of the dispute, whichever comes first". (KS)
- The Olympics Soccer and Basketball HD channels 367 (98) and 365 (99)
are now available to subscribers at 61.5° and 129°
- SD Olympics Korean and Chinese channels 664 and 655 are now available to
subscribers at 118°.
8/1/08
- As advertised the 17 HD channel became available to subscribers today.
- To AT250+HD and Turbo Gold: CBS College Sports, Encore Movie
Channel is reported available in AT250+HD. This may be a free preview
or an outright error. Enjoy it while you have it if it is an error. :)
- To AT200+HD and Turbo Silver: Planet Green, Lifetime Movie Network
- Correction...Planet Green is part of AT250+HD and Turbo Gold.
- To AT100+HD and Turbo Bronze: Lifetime
- To HBO Subscribers: HBO2, HBO West, Comedy,, Zone, Family,
Signature, Latino,
- To Cinemax Subscribers: Action Max
- To Starz subscribers: Starz West, Comedy, Edge, Kids & Family,
Encore Movie Channel.
- As listed above, new packages were released today. NOTHING CHANGES
FOR EXISTING SUBSCRIBERS. The Dish HD Absolute for $29.99 is no
longer available to new subscribers. Existing subscribers may keep Dish
Absolute for the time being (probably next February if not longer).
- The Turbo HD Gold, Silver and Bronze (metallic packages) add the HD
counterparts to AT100/200/250 for $10. Or the Turbo Packages may be
purchased separately and ONLY the available HD channels are provided for a
small savings.
- The metallic packages can ONLY be bundled with the corresponding
AT package for $10. Bronze can only be bundled with AT100, Silver can
only be bundled with AT200, Gold with AT250 and America's Everything.
- And to add another layer of complexity, Turbo HD Platinum is another $10
Add-on to any other Turbo HD pack (you cannot just get Turbo Platinum).
- Discontinued package - Dish Absolute (All HD Channels except
premiums only) $29.99.
- New package- Turbo HD Gold $39.99 + Turbo HD Platinum (All HD channels
except premiums) $49.99
- 7190 KCAU, 7550 KLKN, 7601 WHBF, 9110 WOI were all replaced by slates or a
video of Eric Saul from Dish Network telling subscribers that these local
channels are no longer available to subscribers due to a retransmission
consent dispute. According to the video, the station group owner wants a
300% increase in the price.
- (Just as an example of what this could mean--- Dish is paying 5 cents
and the stations want 15 cents per subscriber. --- That was just an example
and should not be taken as what is actually happening or even a hint of any
inside knowledge.)
- MP test channels added to tp 17 at 148° on channels 5960 and 5961-5972
- Channel 6799 changed EPG name to "TURBO" from HIDEF
- San Diego stations XETV and KSWB swapped affiliations today. XETV
became a CW and KSWB became a Fox station. Dish swapped the two
stations' transponder locations (XETV to tp 20 at 119° and KSWB to tp 27 spot
29). The designation of KSWB remains on channel 251 but it is really the
XETV video stream available to certain subscribers at that location.
- A mirror of Setanta Sports was added and made available to some
subscribers (possibly Dish Latino) on channel 852 at 110°. It could also
be an a la carte location for Dish Latino Subscribers.
7/31/08
- No, it's not August 1 yet. :) No new HD channels yet.
- HIDFF channel 75 moved back to channel 6799 at 110° and is now mapped to

- All the New York local "minor"channels are now available to local

MPEG2 to MPEG4. None are available to subscribers at this time
7/30/08
- Five International channels are being removed from 61.5°. They are
all available at 148° and 61.5°. 581 PHNIX, 587 ATV, 606 TV5, 623 ZGUJ
and 656 ISRLI have all been changed to slates telling subscribers to call Dish
for upgrade/re-point information. All these video services are still
available to subscribers temporarily at 61.5° on the newly added channel
numbers 6150-6155.
- Channel 6199 was also added to tp 14 at 61.5° and is presumably the
information slate telling subscribers about the international channel moves
off of 61.5°.
- Olympics HD Basketball and Soccer channels have been uplinked but are not
yet available to subscribers (or anyone since the Olympics don't start until
8/8/08) on channels 369 and 367 on transponders 21 and 16 at 61.5°, also on tp
3 and 13 at 129° respectively. They are also mapped to channels 99 and

- Temp channels 15 and 16 (9447 and 9448) were removed from 61.5° and 129.
7/29/08
- "phantom" activity at 72.7°? The following channels show as being
uplinked and not available to subscribers on tp 21 at 72.7°, however E*6 has

changes in the system tables in preparation for the testing phase: 100

7/8/08
- 109 Lifetime Movie Network moved from the AT250 package to the AT200
package today.
- A little history: LMN became part of the then AT100 (now AT200)
package on 10/6/2000 when Dish Network was trying to get two local channels
(Cincinnati and Greenville, SC NBC) owned by the same company on the
satellite system. The local channels went up on 9/29 and LMN went up a
week later. On New Years Day 2006 Dish and Lifetime had reached an
impasse in negotiations for the service. Lifetime and LMN were yanked
from the satellite system. After the month-long feud with each company
pointing to the other as the cause of the problem, Dish added Oxygen on
1/16/06 on the middle teir AT120 (now AT200) to replace LMN and Lifetime .
Two weeks later, Dish and Lifetime came to an agreement. Lifetime
returned to its AT50 (now AT100) slot but when LMN returned to the line-up
on, Oxygen had taken its place on AT120 (now AT200). LMN was put on
AT180 (now AT250) until today when it returned to its place in the middle
tier.

Dish Latino Max + HD subscribers, and in the 5500 channel range for Alaska
subscribers.
- 9373 KCWK CW in Walla, Walla Washington (Yakima TV market) was shut down
by Pappas Broadcasting after sucking up all its assets and filing bankruptcy.
Dish removed this channel from the line-up. Yakima locals subscribers

6/3/08 - Due to work and personal commitments (attending 7
separate graduations of family members in the last week along with all the
family comitments that go along with this milestone, and some computer trouble
on top of that, this list has not been updated in a couple of weeks.
Today's update includes all the changes that happened since 5/22)
- From 6/2 (ANON)
- All of the HD channels in the HD Pack were mirrored to channel 4xxx.
"xxx" equals the SD counterpart or if it's an HD Only channel, the lower
number mapped or placement. These channels are available to some one...
but at the moment no one knows whom.
- This is EXACTLY what I have been asking for these last couple of months.
Especially now with all the newer HD channels and more to come, it is a whole
lot easier for those of us who LOATHE to block out channels, map-downs or
setting up special guides to easily find the HD channel we are looking for.
I initially said 1+SD version, but 4+SD Version works just fine. Now
hopefully they will make it available to all of us with HD and remove the Dish
Latino and 9400 HD mirrors to prevent confusion!
- From 5/28 (ANON)

- From 5/26 (KR)
- KCWK (KAZW) channel 9373 and 9 show a slate saying roughly "KCWK has

The rest are slates. The 105° move is nearly complete.
- 190 Fox Reality Channel changed the name on the EPG from "REAL" to "RLTY".

- Voom is now history on Dish. As of about midnight Tuesday
night/Wednesday morning, the 5 remaining Voom channels Rave, Equator, Kung Fu,
and Monsters HD are all gone! A big FU to Dish Network for this one!
Channel 9470 now has a channel labeled HD touting all the new part time (at
best) commercial-ridden with just as many repeats channels they added to take
the place of 15 24/7 commercial-free HD channels including 4 movie channels.
What a great trade... NOT!
- The count now...17 channels added yesterday morning. 10 channels
removed last night. Another 5 removed tonight. Net gain 2 channels
HOWEVER, two of the "new" channels required Cinemax subscription. So to
most subs, net gain ZERO. Add to this that no HD has been spotted on 5
Star Max and Cartoon Network is 100% stretch-o-vision.... It's a NET
LOSS of HD channel. Thanks again Dish.
5/12/08 (HD EXPLOSION DAY! - and some shrapnel blown away.
Net addition of 12 HD channels.)

uplinked channel 237 to complete the channels from NYC shortly after the

that the channels are moving off of 105°. New temporary channels are on
channel 5982 and 5983
- Providence local WPRI is now mirrored on channel 5975. The current
thinking is that providence locals will only be available with new MPEG4
capable receivers.
- MPEG 4 Test channels 413-421 were added on channels 5923-5931 on tp 8 at
148°
3/2/08 (Changes from 2/27)

is a slate telling Utah subscribers about a proposed state tax on satellite

channels 5845-5847. They remain on tp 17 at 129°
- Many foreign language channels moved around at 121° for the continuing
migration to 118°.
- Many "virtual channels" were added to the 77° location. However
there is no real activity on the satellite. These are all load-test
channels with no info. They have not been added to this chart since they
really don't exist. The Mexico service is being uploaded, but that will
not be tracked with this chart in much the same way that BeV Canadian service
is not tracked here either. Any info affecting the US subscribers will
be noted in this chart.
- WRMD CA in Tampa and WWDT CA Telemundo affiliates in in Ft Myers were

2/18/08
- NFL Network will be moved from the AT100 to the AT200 package starting
this Wednesday according to posts at DBSTalk and Satelliteguys. NFL

of the stand-alone HD package for $29.99 as well as the "HD Essentials"
package for $10 added to AT200 and higher.
2/13/08
- As mentioned by several people who e-mailed in the last several days
(thank you), all the RSN HD channels in the 300 range moved to the 5000 range.
They are still mirrored to the same channel number as their SD counterparts
and on channel 5000+the SD channel number. For example if your SD RSN is
on 420 the HD RSN (If available) is on 5420. They remain on the same
transponders and no new HD RSN were made available to the public today.
- Channels 5415-5418 (MT65, MT66 and MT68) moved to 5455-5458 to make room
for the RSN HD channel move.
- Several PPV, NBA League Pass and SKDL channels (513, 514, 517, 520, 523,
560-572 and 5800-5815) were mirrored uplinked as MPEG-4 Standard Definition
channels on transponder 13 at 61.5° at about 4pm Eastern. At about
midnight (or 1.3 seconds after I'd updated the chart and was ready to hit the
upload button) these channels disappeared.
- International Free Preview channels 574 and 575 moved around a little for
a new free preview to some: 574 moved from tp 29 to 8 at 61.5° and 19 to 9 at
148°. Channel 575 moved from TP 8 to 12 at 61.5°. It did not move
at 148°.
- More International Channel migration from 121°.
- The following channels were removed:
- 655/5724 WOWTV
- 716/5722 VIDIT
- 5727 RTPI
- The following channels were changed to a slate letting subscribers know
these channels will no longer be available at 121° (The following moved to
tp 13 where the slate is housed)
- 591 CTS (Programming temporarily available on channel 5708 at 121°)
- 595 CCTVE
- 599 CCOPR
- 758 ART (Programming temporarily available on channel 5709 at 121°)

- Charlottesville Local channels WVAW and WCAV (7929 & 7930) were
temporarily moved to channels 5976 & 5977 as XWVAW and XWCAV. Channel
7929 and 7930 now house slates letting subscribers know that Charlottesville
locals will no longer be available at 105°. They are currently available
at 129°.
- Local channels 7041 WJET, 7042 WSEE, 7210 WAOW, 7011 WSAW, 7860 KSWO, and
7861 KAUZ moved from TP 14 at 121° (Slate letting subscribers know that locals
are leaving 121°-they are available at 129°) back to their "regular" TP.
Programming is back to normal for now. These channels WILL be leaving
121° "soon".
- WAPAD 7778 was uplinked to tp 25 spot 49 at 110°. This channel is
not available to subscribers yet. It is apparently WAPA DT 4.2 San Juan,
PR and houses a 24/7 weather channel for Puerto Rico. (Let me guess...
for the area just south of San Juan, partly cloudy in the morning. Rain
in mid-day, sunny in the afternoon and a clear night. Highs in the 80s,
lows in the 70s. Relative Humidity 15,425,482,548% and breeze from the
east. :-))
- WTMO Telemundo Orlando was uplinked but is not available to subscribers
yet to channel 8279 on transponder 29 spot 1 at 110°
- 9190 KCAH changed its call letters to KQET
- TST 16 an MPEG2 SD test channel was added to channel 9955. It is not
available to subscribers.
- Transponder 1 was added to the system tables at 77°. There are
several channels mirrored at 77° but are not part of the system tables, that
is why they are not listed on this chart. They can be found on the 77°
chart. Link found below on the main page.
- Reminder, 77° can only be seen in the southern portions of the US.
It is aimed at Mexico at this time.
- Test channels "UP4" was uplinked to a spot beam on transponder 1 at 61.5°
and tp 1 at 77°

2/11/08
- Added a note about the move from the 300 range to the 400 range of all the
HD regional sports channels. These channels will be on the same channel
number as the "regular" RSN only starting this Wednesday 2/14. Thanks to
those who e-mailed the info. See 2/7 changes for more details
2/10/08
- Added names of the channels reportedly showing on the "TEMP" HD channels
added last Wednesday. These channels are not available to the public.
I have no way to verify that the channels reported are actually there, but
this info was widely reported on several discussion boards.
- 9463 Tennis Channel
- 9483 MGM
- 9484 MOJO (formerly called INHD)
- 9492 Smithsonian
- 9494 World Fishing Network
2/7/08
- I received a report from Jason saying that he is seeing a "program" on the
EPG of the HD version of FOX SW "View FOXSW HD on Ch
416 as of 2/13" and
the info on the Program Guide
"Effective 2/13
watch FOXSW HD on channel 416, next to your standard definition channel.
Please remember to change your timers. DISH Network HDTV".
If anyone else is seeing that on their EPG for their Regional Sports Network,
please e-mail me at
dishlist@echostaruser.com.

2/6/08 (info provided by ANON)
- Two new Urdu language channels are now available to subscribers. 902
Geo News, and 903 AAG TV. They are available at 61.5° and 118°
- Five new HD channels were uplinked today on channels 9463, 9483, 9484,
9492 and 9492. They are all listed as "TEMP" and all are unavailable to
subscribers and encrypted. They are uplinked on transponder 11 at 129°
and transponder 9 at 61.5°. Counting USA Network HD and SciFi HD that is
7 HD channels up there not available to subscribers yet.
- Note: signal analysis shows that there is no activity on USA and
SciFi and those channels are likely showing slates, however the other 5
channels uplinked seem to show they currently house unique channels.
- The International channel migration from 121° to 118° continues.
Today the following channels were removed from 121° or moved to a "slate"
location telling subscribers to call Dish for an upgrade to continue getting
that channel:
- 711 & 5725 ISRLI Removed
- 733 & 5716 PLSAT Removed
- 736 ITVN Moved to a slate
- 745 & 5718 GEOTV Removed
- 814 GLOBO Removed
- 816 RTPI Removed
- MPEG4 Test channel 67 (MT67) on channel 5417 was removed from tp 11 at
129°
- Note: The three remaining "MT" channels in the 5400 range
appear to be mirrored on the "new" HD channels listed above.
- Two new "HDSKD" channels were added to channels 5794 and 5795 on tp 27 at
129°. These channels will never be directly available to the general
public. These channels are the home for HD RSN and HD sports package
channels that are merely repointed (mirrored) at other locations. Most
of the 9500 range is nothing but mirrors of the HDSKD channels. This
does NOT necessarily mean more HD channels. It means they can populate
more of the HD sports Alternates and part time HD Regional Sports Networks at
the same time.
- PTST1 channel 9637 was removed from tp 3 at 148°
- DPOP channel 9680 was removed from tp 23 at 61.5° and tp 26 at 148°
- Rock 300 Bowling Radio is no longer available via satellite and has become
an Internet Only service. Channel 9692 has been removed from tp 15 at
61.5°
2/4/08

is now an independent channel and still available to Corpus Christi local
subscribers.
1/31/08

- Conspicuously missing from that list is The Science Channel (figures
it's the one I watch most (ed)) and Golf/Versus HD.
- KREX and KFQX CBS and Fox in Grand Junction are back on Dish Network.
The Denver affiliates were removed. The Grand Junction stations were off
the air due to a fire. Dish temporarily added the Denver local stations
by agreement with the local stations and Denver affiliates.
1/30/08
- All the free preview channels in the 280-290 block have been removed.
A new free preview channel added last week to channel 102 is now available to

preview on their regular channel numbers.
- No, the USA and SciFi HD channels have not been made available to
subscribers yet... stop asking! :-)
- 192 changed EPG names from DTIME to ID to reflect the channel name change
from "Discovery Times" to "Investigation Discovery". The name change to the
channel occurred on 1/27
- A new "ORDER" channel is now uplinked but not available on channels 468
and 9464 on tp 19 at 110°
- 473-478, the X Games channels have been removed from the system since the
X Games are now over.
- 657/5730 and 6585739 Korean channels ONGME and BTN have been removed from
61.5° and 148.
- Info channels added to channels 7189, 7197, 7910 and 7916 (on either side
of Sioux City and Clarksburg/Weston) letting local channel subscribers at 105°
know that the channels will soon be leaving that location. All these
channels are currently available at 129°. All channels available to Dish
Network subscribers are now on official notice that they will be removed
shortly from that location.
- History Channel en Español (a mostly dubbed channel with very little
native Spanish language content) is now available to Dish Latino subscribers
on channel 850 at 110°

Buffalo locals subscribers on channel 9130 at 110°
1/26/08

This channel is owned by Jewelry TV. Added notation to the channel.
1/24/08
- Several HD channels moved around in the wee hours of the morning on

129°
- 9425 Universal HD moved from tp 27 to 31 at 129°
- 9473 Treasure HD moved from tp 9 tp 13 at 61.5° and from 11 to 23 at
129°
- 9475 World Cinema HD moved from tp 9 to 24 at 61.5° and from tp 11 to 22
at 129°
- 9497 World Sport HD moved from tp 9 to 19 at 61.5° and from tp 11 to 19
at 129°
- 9491 History HD moved from tp 27 to 31 at 129°
- 9500 Big 10 Network moved from tp 9 to 30 at 61.5°
- Transponder 9 at 61.5° has been cleared off. Transponder 11 at 129°
has 4 test channels still residing there. (5415-5418).
1/23/08
- Channels 7566 KREX TV 5 (CBS) and 7568 KFQX TV 4 (Fox) have been off the
air since for several days due to a fire. Dish has (as of 11pm today
Eastern, just in time for the 9pm news Mountain time) remapped these channel
numbers to show the Denver CBS and Fox channels in Grand Junction.
- Editor's note: This is a bigger deal than many people realize.
Dish Network is barred form offering distant network channels to ANYONE for
ANY reason via court injunction. Dish lost a long-running law suit
brought against them by.... (drum roll)... CBS and Fox (among
others)!!!! It gets a little complicated, but in short, Dish couldn't just
flip on the stations without a signed deal with all the stations involved.
The Denver channels need to give consent, the Grand Junction stations need to
waive their exclusivity, and if there is any syndicated programming on the
Denver channels also available on the three remaining Grand Junction channels,
Dish has to make a deal with them! The court injunction does not prevent
Dish from reaching a deal to get license to rebroadcast a signal to a distant
market, but it does ban Dish from using the government-granted license as a
short cut. Basically, instead of dealing with one group, they had to
deal with as many as 6 to get this deal done.
- Dish Preview Channel added to 102 tp 2 at 110°. This channel is not
available to subscribers yet.
- The X Games channels 474-478 are now available to subscribers.
Programming will start this weekend. These are alternate feeds of the
ESPN X games and should be available to anyone who receives ESPN on Dish.
- More international channels are moving! Channels 717 LEOWD, 787
ZEETV, 788 TVASA, 789 SET, 790 ZCINE, 791 B4U, 794 AAJTK have been switched to
a slate telling subscribes that the channels are moving off of 121°. The
channels are all already available at the 118° satellite location. A
call to dish and a "repoint kit" installed on the existing superdish is all
that is required.
- The following channels have temporary homes at 121° so subscribers can
still see the channels during the transition period: 5703 ZCINE, 5706 SET,
5707 AAJTK, 5712 B4U, 5714 ZEETV, 5726 TVASA.
- Two new international channels have been uplinked but are not available to
subscribers yet. 902 GEO News and 903 AAG TV. Both these channels
are URDU (Pakistani language) and are on 61.5° tp 32 and 118° tp 7.
- The transition of local channels off of 121° has begun.
- Erie PA locals WJET and WSEE channels 7041 and 7042, Wausau WI locals
WAOW and WSAW channels 7210 and 7211, Wichita Falls TX locals KSWO and KAUZ
channels 7860 and 7861, and Providence RI locals WLNE and WPRI channels 7770
and 7771 have all been changed to a slate telling subscribers of the
channels' removal from 121°.
- All the programming is still available to subscribers on the "X"
channels added in the 5960-5975 channel range.
- KUQI, a new Fox affiliate for Corpus Christi, TX is now uplinked, but not
available to subscribers, on channel 8919 on tp 27 spot 17 at 110°. This
is more of a placeholder than anything else. This channel is not on the
air yet, but expected to light up some time after the Super Bowl. The
fate of the current Fox feed through Dish when the new station hits the air is
unknown at this time.
- HD Events 1 has been renamed MAVHD (Mavericks HD). HOWEVER... this
channel is still a shared channel. There are 4 channel numbers witht he
same video stream. It is still the Event channel just renamed.
This is NOT a new 24/7 service.
- The link to the Excel version of this chart was removed again due
to the amount of time it takes to update both this chart and the spread sheet
separately. Sorry for the inconvenience. The last version of the
excel spreadsheet is still available
HERE. I may update
the sheet from time to time. I will post this on the main channel chart
whenever there is a new version.
- Updated hyperlinks to CNBC, Telefutura, KNTV and WZMY. (David)
- If anyone finds any links that are outdated or incorrect, please feel free
to e-mail me
HERE. I appreciate any help I can get! :-)
- And before the day was out an e-mail comes out from the "Shadow" with a
few corrections.... thanks
- 419 and 369* Fox Sports Bay Area is changing names to Comcast Sports Bay
Area on 4/1/08
- 731 TV5 USA is not at 121° as the list showed, it is at 118°. This
has now been corrected. The report I received was a little complicated
to read and I jumped to the wrong conclusion.
- 576 at 110° and 61.5° Updated hyperlink to Zee Sports America to
www.zeesports.us
- Tweaked MH1 since it is now sanitized for the US audience.
1/16/08 (ANON)
- A ton of shopping channels are now available to all Dish Network receivers
regardless of subscription level. They may also be available to FTA
receivers.
- 104 Satellite Response Interactive
- 216 Collectibles & Treasures
- 218 The Jewelry Channel
- 220/883 Shop Latino TV
- 222 Home Shopping Network
- 223 Satellite Response Network
- 226 GEM TV
- 227 Jewelry Television
- 228 Shop NBC
- 6 XGames channels have been uplinked and will be available as usual for
the X-Games. They are on channels 473, 474, 477 and 478 at 119° and 475
and 476 at 110°. These channels may shuffle around since they are
actually mirrors of the standard "sports channels" used for PPV sports and
league packages.
- The following international channels have been removed from 121° for the
continuing migration to 118°. All these channels are available at 118°.
Subscribers to the channels have been notified and were given some time to
call Dish to make arrangements to upgrade their equipment.
- 675/5726 TV Japan, 719/5715 ERT, 730/5721 LEOWD, 740/5717 HTBA, 743 ISMOV.
- 837 Telemundo Puerto Rico has been removed from the system. This
channel ceased operations as a national channel earlier this month and has
been showing a slate for the last week or so. Telemundo PR is still
available to Puerto Rico residents as part of the locals package on WKAQ
channel 7781 and 2.
- 842 WAPA America removed from the system. For the second time Dish
has uplinked and removed WAPA America without making it available to
subscribers. WAPA America is the national version of LIN's WAPA TV 4 in
San Juan, Puerto Rico. This station was uplinked presumably to replace
Telemundo PR which is the national version of San Juan's channel 2.
Apparently, Dish and LIN could not reach a satisfactory agreement. The
subscribers to Dish Latino pay the price by losing a channel and having a
price increase at the same time.
- History en Español is now uplinked to channel 850. This is yet
another "dubbed" channel from English to Spanish and contains little or no
native Spanish Language content. Like Discovery en Español, adding the
Spanish SAP to the regular channel would do the same trick. The spanish
version of the channel does have unique programming schedule, but next to no
unique programs. It is not yet available to subscribers.
- KBBC is now available to Los Angeles area local subscribers on channel
8024 and is mapped to channel 20 as well. (Billy)
- WNGS RTN affiliate in the Buffalo area is now uplinked, but not available,
on channel 9130 and mapped to channel 67.
- 9646 ATT has been removed from 129°. This was an HD business leased
channel as many are in the 9600 range. This had nothing to do with any
rumors of an ATT buy-out that surface every few years like a ground hog in
February.
- International channels Xianmen TV (XTV) and Zhejiang TV (ZTV) became
available to Great Wall Package subscribers on channel 753 and 754 at 118°
1/15/08
- No changes today. However Discovery Networks and Oprah Winfrey had a
joint press release today announcing that Discovery Health will be changing
identity to "The Oprah Winfrey Network" starting in 2009. Read article
and press release in the
Chicago Tribune. Added note to channel 189 about the impending
change. (goober)
1/9/08
- Channel 157 became "OVATION" as reported on 1/7. IMF is history on
Dish.
- "INFO" channels telling subsribers to Columbus OH, Dayton OH,
Charleston/Huntington WV and Charlottesville VA local channels at 105° that
they will be moving to 129° and to call Dish now booke-end each local market.
There is really only one channel mirrored many times. The Info channel
is mirrored on channel numbers 7199, 7208, 8314, 7326, 7424, 7432, 7928 and
7934.
- WKBS Altoona on channel 7472 moved from tp 29 spot 9 at 110° to tp 1 spot
3 at 119°. Johnstown/Altoona locals have been split between these two
transponders for some time. This move was probably to better balance the
load on each transponder.
- After only 10 months, Dish decided to change the call letters on channel
9219 (WTVK) to WXCW. The change occurred May 2007. (Raymie)
- 655 WOW TV, 716 VIDIT, 815 RCORD, 817 SPT are the next international
channels to go to a slate telling subscribers the channels are leaving 61.5°,
121° and 148°. All have temporary homes in the 5700 range for the
transition so subscribers do not lose service completely until they get the
new equipment necessary to receive 118°.
- The transition for the following channels is complete and the 61.5°, 121°
and 148° versions have been removed from the system. 705 ARANG, 739 RTVI+,
747 ARYOW, 795 SUNTV, 908 RAD60, 909 RADIT, 910 RAIRD.
1/8/08 (no changes. More news)
- Sky Angel is sending out letters to its lifetime subscribers telling
them that the satellite service will cease operation on March 31, 2008.
Read the letter in
THIS satelliteguys.us thread.
- Added "SA CEASING SAT.OPS.. 3/31/08" to all the Sky Angel channels.
1/7/08 (no changes, just news)
- According to
Multi-Channel News, Ovation will
be replacing International Music Feed on
channel 157 Wednesday
- Dish Network – which added IMF in April 2005 and kept the channel on its
lineup as part of a litigation settlement with Universal Music –
will position Ovation on IMF’s channel location (157) Wednesday.
- A historical note from the EKB, with the Exception of
Goodlife TV (which is now American Life TV) this is the last channel
remaining that Dish was supposedly going to add to the AT150 package when
it was formed. Nick GAS, VHI Classic, Style, Fox Movie Channel
CurrenTV (which was Trio at the time), GAC, Wisdom (which became Lime and
then went under) and Much Music USA (now Fuse) were listed as coming
May 2000 or at least that summer on TV listings. (News World International
went away before it was ever added to the listed channel 211).
They trickled in one by one over the last 8 years. Ovation,
originally listed on channel 127 way back in April 2000. That
channel number is now the home to Oxygen. Tony.
- Correction! Trio was purchased by NBC/Universal Networks and
became "Sleuth" (Added to Dish 6/9/06). NewsWorld International
became Current TV.
1/3/08 (Changes entered 1/4/08) (ANON)
- Added a channel listed as "Coming in February 2008" by its Web site.
The Pursuit Channel. This
channel is supposedly coming to channel 230. It appears to be and
outdoor themed leased access channel similar to the "Men's channel" which was
removed in the Turner Media shake-up last year. (Juan)
- Channel 7014 has been added to the Shreveport market and mapped down to
local channel 4. 7014 is a mirror of The Hallmark Channel and is
available to all local subscribers in the Shreveport TV area. This is
being done while Dish and the local ABC duke it out. The local ABC is
asking for "only a penny a day from each subscriber in the area" (that's 30
cents a month per subscriber for a channel that is FREE over the air).
Dish has placed their thumb on their nose, extended their fingers and blown
them a giant raspberry yanking the channel last week just before they lost the
legal right to carry the channel due to the dispute. Channel 7015 is
currently showing a slate telling subscribers the local ABC is not available.
- The free preview channels 281 and 282 changed from DIY and CNBCW to Animal
Planet and Discovery Health, respectively.
- Dish changed the EPG name of channel 204 from COURT to TRU. Court TV
changed its name to TruTV on new year's day.
- The following International channels at 121° have been replaced by a slate
telling subscribers to call dish for the repoint kit to 118°. 727 VIDIT,
739 RTVI+, 747 ARYOW, 795 SUNTV.
- RAIRD 729 and RAD60 757 were removed from 121°. These channels are
currently available at 118° and 61.5°.
- Christmas is officially over. Channel 982, the Holiday Music Channel
has been removed from the system for the season.
- MPEG4 test channel "MT68" has been added to channel 5418 on tp 31 at 129°
- Temporary channels 5723 (APUNJ) and 5728 (RAI) were removed from 121°.
The transition to 118° is complete for these channels.
- Wausau, WI and Wichita Falls, TX local channels at 121° were book-ended by
INFO channels (7209, 7217, 7859 and 7867 all on tp 14 at 121°) telling
subscribers to those local markets that the channels will be leaving 121°.
These channels are currently available at 129°. All local markets at
121° now have warning slates telling local subscribers that their local
channels are moving off on 121° "soon".
- Another "Warning" channel telling subscribers about channels moving off of
105° has been added to channel 9794 on tp 2 at 105°. It is unclear if
this channel is available to anyone yet. Only Sioux City, Columbus (OH),
Dayton, Charleston (WV), Clarksburg and Charlottesville locals are at 105°.
No other DBS services are available there at this time.

- No uplink changes. However, added info on the HD channels.
Dish will be adding a second tier to the HD channels. Here is how it
works:
- HD Essentials $10 includes all the
HD channels that have a standard definition counterpart on the AT package
one subscribes to. So National Geographic or the Science Channel would
require AT250 plus the HD Essentials package. Animal Planet requires
AT200 plus HD essentials. So far, all the others would be AT100 + HD
Essentials.
- HD Ultimate $20 includes all the
channels you would get with HD Essentials plus HDNet, HDNet movies,
Universal HD, HD Theater, MHD plus the 15 Voom channels. The net
change to anyone with Dish HD package going to Ultimate HD is ZERO. HD
Ultimate is identical to Dish HD now.
- There was a rumored third HD package. Two thoughts on this. 1)It
could be that Puerto Rico/USVI may be offered the same HD package for $10
which is now available to Alaska and Hawaii. Or 2)it was a
misunderstanding of the Essentials explanation. The channels on
Dish Essentials are lebeled "Dish HD1, 2 or 3" which corresponds with AT100,
200 and 250. So National Geographic (AT250) is available in Dish HD 3.
Animal planet (AT200) is available in Dish HD 1 and 2. A&E HD (AT100)
is available in Dish HD1, 2 and 3.

- HAPPY NEW YEAR!
- Well... with a new year looks like we have the "Annual Dish Network
Contract Dispute Game". This year the winner is "Then N/Noggin".
You can't blame Dish though. They only had 3 and a half months since the
press release to prepare! Who can negotiate a contract in 3 and a half
months? Come on!
- Kidding aside, it looks like as of now (12:17 AM Eastern) Nick GaS and
Noggin/The N remain on their old channels regardless of the EPG.
- A post on DBSTalk reports that a CSR has stated the split channel will
remain for the time being with the channel switching between the N and
Noggin at 6am and 6pm Eastern. Must be hell for the Pacific time
folks!
- The guess is the dispute (if there is one and it's not just a slow
change-over) arises from the fact that Noggin/The N are on AT200 and Nick
GaS is on AT250. This would mean Dish would lose one channel off of
AT250 and add one channel to AT200.
- Court TV has switch to "TruTV" as of midnight.
